Thank you for visiting my website. I am an artist and ceramics teacher living in Portland, Maine. I have been working with clay for over 20 years and enjoy teaching all ages. Currently, I teach at Portland Pottery, where I enjoy meeting new students and have developed many longtime friendships. I am also an adjunct professor at Maine College of Art and Southern Maine Community College, both located in Portland.
Education: BFA in Ceramics from the Maine College of Art
BS from the University of New Hampshire
In my ceramic work, I try to recreate the depth of color and texture that I see in the environment. These organic elements are connected to my daily life - spending time enjoying the outdoors with my family. I also consider how shapes in nature are similar to the contours of our body, and have tried to make references to these shapes by using their gestures and visual characteristics. It is important to me that, while viewers are engaged with my pieces, they discover elements of the natural world around them.
Please browse the photo gallery below for a sampling of my recent work. These decorative ceramics are made from earthenware clay and surfaced with layered glazes and terra sigillata. You will find ceramic vases, platters, bowls, and baskets, all of which make unique gifts. If you are interested in a particular piece, please contact me with any questions or for purchases.
